DTZ wins Best Performing Listed Firm in the MPF/Noble Professional Services Index at the MPF European Practice Management Awards

22/10/2009

The Managing Partners’ Forum (MPF), a members′ association dedicated to enhancing the status of management in professional firms, and Noble the research-led independent investment bank dedicated to mid and small cap companies, are delighted to announce that DTZ has been awarded Best Performing Listed Firm in the MFP/Noble Professional Services Index calculated by Standard & Poor’s (“MPF/Noble Index”) at the MPF European Practice Management Awards last night

The awards were first introduced by the MPF in 2002 to showcase the contribution of different disciplines in managing a professional firm, but this award is a brand new category for the 2009 Awards following the launch of the MPF/Noble Index back in March this year.  The MPF/Noble Index has grown by 49% over the six months since launch, matching the FTSE AIM 100 and outpacing its other benchmark the FTSE 350 by 17%..

The Best Performing Listed Firm Award is for the firm in the MPF/Noble Index, whose market capitalisation has grown at the fastest rate in the year to 31 August 2009.  DTZ, one of the ‘big four’ global real estate advisers, was the winner of the Award with 307% annual growth in market capitalisation.

Analysts at Noble commented that the following three events in the past year were behind DTZ’s success –

  • A successful £49m share placement
  • Securing a £15m credit facility from its larger shareholder, in addition to restructuring its banking facilities
  • The appointment of Paul Idzik as CEO of a new management team with proven strategic and operational skills

Bob Rickert, Group Finance Director and Global Chief Operating Officer for DTZ said: “We are pleased to have won the Best Performing Listed Firm award.  We are committed to transforming DTZ into the best property services company in the world.  Our efforts are making us more competitive in our well-established markets and enabling us to grow market share by doing what we do best – capitalising on our strong brand to win new business and continue to focus on servicing our clients, which is our top priority.”

In second place with annual growth of 169% was LSL Property Services, and in joint third place with annual growth of 63% were the media services groups Chime Communications plc and Creston plc.

To help alter attitudes in favour of management, the MPF highlights issues that stand in the way of effective management and campaigns through a combination of: hard-hitting reports and surveys; articles in the media; rigorous awards; well-attended events in cities worldwide; and extensive knowledge-sharing.
