Noble Continues Expansion of Equities Business
27/07/2009
Noble, the research-led independent investment bank, is pleased to announce the appointments of Mileen Rash to the Equity Sales Team, Sanjay Vidyarthi as lead analyst covering Retail, and Marianne Headey as Head of Roadshows.
Mileen has fourteen years’ experience in fund management, specialising in UK mid- and small-cap equities across a variety of sectors. His experience was forged predominantly at Henderson Global Investors, where he has been Associate Director of Pan European Equities since 2004 and has developed strong market relationships. In 2005 he was the number one ranked stock picker in Moneyweek and amongst the top rated for 2006. Before Henderson, Mileen was an Assistant Fund Manager at AMP Asset Management.
Sanjay brings extensive experience of the UK retail sector to Noble. He joins from Dresdner Kleinwort, where he has spent the past three years as Vice President, UK mid/small cap retail equity analyst. After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 1999 at PricewaterhouseCoopers, he subsequently joined the equity research team at Cazenove where he specialised in general retail coverage, before moving to Teather & Greenwood in 2004 to cover large and small cap UK general retail, food and drug retailers.
Marianne joins Noble from Edison Investment Research, where she has held the position of Head of Investor Access since 2008, working for small to mid cap companies and developing valuable relationships with the investment community. Previous appointments include UK, Ireland and North America Sales at NYSE Euronext Hugin and Global Markets Fixed Income Analyst at Bloomberg L.P.
These appointments are a further step in the expansion of Noble’s equities business and corporate broking division, following the recent appointment of Michael Burt to lead research in Real Estate, and coming on the back of other senior hires over the past year, with Peter Tracey and John Millar joining as co-Heads of Corporate Broking and ECM, Jeremy McKeown as Head of Sales, and Paul Beamont and Laura Mould as Directors of Sales Trading.
The addition of Retail broadens Noble’s coverage of small and mid-caps in the UK to ten sectors, Climate Change, General Financials, Healthcare, General Insurance, Leisure, Media, Real Estate, Retail, Support Services and Technology. In the recently announced Thomson Reuters Extel Small Caps Survey 2009, Noble was ranked the highest new entrant at number 13, with three of its sector teams - Financials, Insurance and Healthcare - ranked 4th in their sectors. In the 2008 Extel survey, Sanjay was rated 5th for small cap retail.
Nick Paulson-Ellis, Head of Equities at Noble said, “We are very pleased that Sanjay, Mileen and Marianne have joined our growing team. They all have excellent reputations with clients, companies and investors alike and bring substantial industry knowledge and expertise to their respective positions. We are delighted that we are continuing to expand our equities business by hiring selectively and for the recognition we have attained in recent surveys.”
Sanjay Vidyarthi added, “I admired the research model that Nick created at Clear Capital for fundamental, no–holds-barred, conviction research, and it is great to see this model continuing at Noble. I am thrilled to be joining such an ambitious and dynamic team,”
Mileen Rash said, “This is a new role for me and I am looking forward to helping grow the business with an exceptionally talented team.”
Marianne Headey said, “I am delighted to have joined Noble at this exciting time and to be working with such a well-respected team who encapsulate the dynamic spirit which drew me to the company.”
